Hello, everyone! About two days ago, the Play store automatically updated my Skype app to the newest version, which, of course, is awful. So awful, that I was contemplating moving to a different platform all together. But this wasn't an option for me since Skype is my primary communication with many important people in my life. So, I found a way to revert the update back to the previous version of Skype that we all know and love!
First, I went to the Play store and turned off automatic updates for just the Skype app alone (I didn't want to turn it off for all of my apps). After that, I uninstalled the Skype app.

Then, I went into my phone settings under 'apps' and toggled the permission that allows me to install apps not found from the Play store.
Lastly, I went online and found the APK files for Skype (I just typed in Skype apk files and clicked the first link I think) and I chose a file that was like 7.4+ or something. Just anything that wasn't version 8.0+. Anyway, I downloaded file, opened it, and then it installed Skype :)
And that's it! I figured since I saw so many people here who were just as distraught over the update as I was, I'd share a useful tip on how I was able to rescue my sanity from the user interface overhaul.
